Nancy
breast cancer
stage three
About the same time as I was experiencing another stressful personal situation
my mammogram showed normal and the ultra sound was misread to be a benign 1 cm cyst.
I wasn't comfortable with the size the radiologist said it was because it
felt like a small egg. I went to a surgeon and when he couldn't get any
fluid from the "cyst" he scheduled a biopsy. It showed a 2.5 cm tumor.
I went a saw another surgeon in a bigger city where I came from and a
mastectomy was done. It ended up being a 5.5 cm tumor with 9 out of
16 positive lymph nodes. They did get clean margins and I was er/pr+.
I had 6 rounds of cytoxin, F5U and epirupensin (sp) followed for 33 rounds
of radiation. It has been a extremely stressful time not only dealing with the cancer.
I find out 1/3 if I'm in remission. My biggest fears are the stats.
I have a 50/50 chance of surviving 5 years..... that terrifies me.
During Thanksgiving I found myself wondering if this would be my last.
There are times that I feel like I'm going to kick this cancer's butt and
other times, total fear.
