50-59
Joan
breast cancer
stage one

2/1 mammogram, suspicious malignancy they said. First surgeon was cold and uninforming. Immediately, I got a second opinion that day had needle biopsy-- two days later the report said cancer. On Valentines Day I had a lumpectomy, three days later reentry to cut away more and remove some lymphnodes. I am doing very good and feel confident I will be well again. I just keep wondering if this is a dream though…it happens so fast. Went for my one week checkup today. I had to be drained, but they said this is common. Resting a lot. I want to get on with life but am facing radiation and tamoxifen treatment in a couple of weeks. Will face one day at a time. Am surrounded by loving family.

Thanks for your informative and supportive site.
