50-59
Judie S.
breast cancer
stage two

A mammogram on 12/6/00 found the cancer. I had an immediate biopsy which confirmed it.  And I was so shocked and scared.  I've had numerous biopsies of that breast and each time I felt like I ducked the bullet.  But not this time. I had a lumpectomy on 12/28/00 and they removed 18 lymph nodes, 9 of which were positive for cancer. They also failed to get "clean margins" It was decided that it would be best if I started chemotherapy immediately, and after chemotherapy to have a re-excision of the breast to try and obtain "clean margins" before the 6 weeks of radiation begins. I have now finished 7 of the 8 chemotherapy treatments, so this part is almost done.(Had 4 Adriamycin & Cytoxin and now 4 Taxol) It’s been rough but, I'm doing it! I have no hair, eyelashes or eyebrows and look like an alien, but I keep reminding myself that all of this is temporary. The re-excision is scheduled for June 19th, two weeks after my last chemotherapy treatment. Whoever reads this, please say a prayer for me and ask God to grant favorable results in this surgery. I do appreciate any and all prayers as I believe them to be powerful. I try to maintain a positive attitude as much for my family and friends as for myself. I am hoping I will beat this dread disease and never see it back again! Good luck to all of us.
