places where people with cancer and their families and friends can join with
others to build social and emotional support as a supplement to medical care.
Today, there are 16 Clubs located worldwide. Joanna is committed to creating
and sustaining a program that provides emotional and social support to people
with cancer and their families through support groups, family sessions, lectures,
workshops and social events.

how spiritual wellness can augment traditional medical treatment to promote
healing.

Dr. Barbara Smith is Co-Director of the Gillette Centers for
Women's Cancers, serves as Director of the Comprehensive Breast Health Center
at Massachusetts General Hospital and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at
Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital. Barbara believes
that when treating women's cancers, you must treat the whole woman, not just
the cancer. This involves emotional healing and family counseling. In addition
to being an accomplished breast surgeon, Barbara has distinguished herself through
her research focusing on genetic and non-genetic risk factors for breast cancer,
women's perceptions of breast cancer risk and diagnosis and treatment issues
in young women with breast cancer.
Jon Wagner-Holtz is the Founder and CEO of Kids Konnected,
a nonprofit organization that provides kid-to-kid education and emotional support
to children with parents who have cancer. Jon was nine years old when his mother
was diagnosed with breast cancer. As he coped with her illness, Jon tried to
reach out to other children with similar experiences, but there were no resources
available that offered this opportunity. Seven years later, Jon's mother is
a survivor, and Kids Konnected is a fully-incorporated nonprofit organization
with chapters in 12 states.
