Prostate cancer is one of the most curable types of cancer if found early. And early detection is possible through either of two simple tests, a PSA test or a DRE (Digital Rectal Exam). Your doctor can describe these tests in detail to you, but the important thing is to talk to your doctor at the first sign of any symptoms. You should also see your doctor on a regular basis. Don't wait until something is wrong!

Treatment for prostate cancer is an individual choice and you should discuss all of the options with your doctor. This will provide you with the best information for making a treatment decision.

Here are some of the signs you should watch for, particularly if you are over 45, are African-American or have a family history of prostate cancer.

1. Difficulty starting urination
2. Reduced force of stream of urine
3. Urinating small amounts frequently
4. Urinating more frequently during the night
5. Painful urination
6. Bone pain
7. Blood in urine
8. Sexual difficulty

Please be sure to see your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.
